We, The Cheshire Cheese AC, rekindled our interest in fishing at Evesbatch Old Lake by a chance find on the internet. We knew the lake had declined years ago and had stopped visiting when on one sortie only one fish had been caught.
We, as a club, have an aging membership and are always on the lookout for venues with easy access. It was with great interest that I personally stumbled on the Google Earth picture of the lake and found that it was in new ownership.
To shorten the tale we booked the whole lake for a club day out and I can say on behalf of our membership that it was one of our better decisions in 2010.
The July sun shone , the fish cooperated and we had a BBQ on the dam wall afterwards ( under the watchful eye of the owners)
All in all an excellent day out in natural surroundings and one we hope to emulate in 2011.
